Transferência de AMEX

Para aqueles que querem efetuar a transferência do cartão American Express para o Canadá segue abaixo o link a ser acessado. É possível fazer a transferência on-line, mas acho que só para os cartões Platinum e Gold. Fiquei na dúvida quanto a comprovação de renda, uma vez que tenho a expectativa de ficar uns 6 meses procurando emprego. Não sei se será impeditivo para conseguir o cartão por lá e estabelecer um histórico de crédito.

Following are short profiles of 47 of the GTA's Top 50 employers, in alphabetical order, according to the Toronto publisher Mediacorp.

Algorithmics
Located in a renovated warehouse in downtown Toronto, Algorithmics features an on-site fitness centre for employees. Other perks include a one-month paid sabbatical after five years with the company and tuition subsidies of up to $2,000 a year. PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP

Governo Canadense

Ainda não vivo no Canadá (em breve tenho fé que estaremos lá), mas já vou opinando sobre o governo de lá.

Li um documento oficial chamado Advantage Canada onde fica claro que bem ou mal o governo canadense tem um planejamento de longo prazo e, o que mais me impressiona, é que toda redução na dívida pública federal, por conta principalmente da redução de gastos e um forte superávit fiscal, está sendo direcionada a uma redução gradual da carga tributária. É o exato oposto do que vemos no Brasil (mais um motivo de estar indo embora).

O mais interessante é que se trata de um governo minoritário (Partido Conservador), ou seja, sem maioria no parlamento, mas que vai por em pauta votações extremamente relevantes e, caso seja derrotado, novas eleições deverão ser convocadas. Pelo que tenho lido me identifico bastante com este partido e, já pensando no futuro, acredito que um dia serei seu eleitor.

Harper to Announce Plan to Lower Canadian Sales Tax, CP Reports

Oct. 16 (Bloomberg) -- Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper will open a new session of Parliament today promising to cut the nation's sales tax, the Canadian Press reported.
Harper will announce plans to reduce the 6 percent sales tax by one percentage point in the so-called Speech from the Throne, which Governor General Michaelle Jean will give to lawmakers at about 7 p.m., the news agency said.
He also will pledge ``multiyear'' tax cuts for individuals and businesses, CP reported, citing a leaked copy of the 16- page speech. Other pledges will be a new anti-crime bill including measures to fight impaired driving and mandatory prison terms for gun crimes, according to CP.
The policy plan is considered a matter of confidence in the minority Conservative Party government, so elections would be triggered if a majority of opposition lawmakers voted against it later this month.

Family Day

Segundo o pessoal do site blogto.com, foi criado um novo feriado em Ontario chamado Family Day.

O feriado terá início no ano que vem, tendo como data a terceira segunda-feira do mês de fevereiro.

Com isso, segundo o site, serão 9 finais de semana prolongados durante o ano. Particularmente gostei muito da notícia, pois será uma segunda-feira a menos para acordar com o frio de Toronto!

Bom, nos desculpe pela falta de notícias, pois fomos levar a Nicolinha para a Disney e depois demos um pulinho em NY. A viagem foi ÓTIMA!!!!
